This weekend we went to Eric's family reunion at Lake Buckhorn, Ohio. Lolly had never been to the lake house before. Eric and I were curious how she would respond to water. Most French Bulldogs cannot swim (they are front-heavy, stocky, and have short noses, all of which make the Frenchie a less than ideal swimmer); however some owners out there insist their Frenchie can swim.
Being careful, we bought a little life jacket for Lolly and took her to a quiet beach. Lolly didn't mind wading in, but as soon as the water got chest-high she immediately "put it into reverse" and backed out. Ultimately she was much more interested in chewing on any stick she could find.
So we decided that Lolly likes to wade in water, but she is not a swimmer. And even if Lolly wades in water she is not particularly excited by it.
But she does look cute in her life jacket....

Oh CUTE! Our dog is not a swimmer either but he does sport a great life jacket for when we rent a boat in Miami!
Go Lolly!
